It’s expected that Apple will launch a new iPhone this year and with that in mind we are starting to see concept idea’s appearing on the web.
At present no one really knows what the 4th generation iPhone will actually look like and absolutely no idea of specifications. It’ll be nice to think it would have at least a five megapixel camera, maybe a little bit extra internal memory and the option to add a MicroSD card.
I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens in a few months time as it’s possible that Apple will announce this in June or July this year.

One of the latest announcements at the mobile world congress in Barcelona is that Microsoft are releasing a new operating system for mobile phones. Windows Phone 7 series will offer a fresh approach to phone software with a distinctly smart design and integrated experience.
Unfortunately we will not see any handsets with this new software until late 2010. We have posted a couple of videos below if you want to have a closer look.

Samsung today announced the Samsung Beam which is their first official project on. It comes with a pico projector and makes them one of the latest manufacturers to jump on the bandwagon with this latest technology. This is definitely something that many business users will find a use for. Being able to show presentations at meetings for example is there something I could see his purpose as people wanting to have any projector built into their mobile phone.
The phone is based on the Android 2.1 operating system and uses the TouchWiz 3.0 user interface to help navigate around the menu system. It comes with a 3.7 inch AMOLED screen, a 5 megapixel camera, 720p video recording.
No pricing has been released yet on this but I’m sure we will hear something in the next couple of weeks as it has only been announced and more Mobile World Congress meeting in Barcelona.

The LG KS360 comes with a Qwerty keyboard which is ideal for sending text messages or e-mail and is a feature that is becoming very popular on the vast majority of handsets now available.
This is a midrange phone that is definitely full of character because of the combination of colours that it comes in. It is now available on the O2 network for a super price of only €69 (at the time of writing this paper also offering €30 call credit) this is a fantastic price for a phone that comes with a two megapixel camera which incorporates digital zoom a large 2.4 TFT display which offers QVGA resolution.
It also has stereo Bluetooth, FM radio, micro SDmemory card slots. One nice feature a particular like it that it has Threaded SMS. Overall it offers value for money and features that you would expect to find on a phone that would cost a lot more money.
You can find more details over at the O2 website

2010 looks as if it’s going to be a good year for Motorola because according to Digitimes Research they are going to ship more Android powered mobile phones then HTC this year.
Last year HTC are responsible for shipping around 6 million android phones which made him the number one vendor with about a 65% share of this particular segment of the market. This year it is expected that Motorola will account for 34.7% of the market compared to HTC 31.9%.
Motorola are expected to launch at least 30 Android models in 2010. They are expected to sell any where between 12.5 and 15.6 million android smartphones this year. It’s interesting to see that Motorola pushing ahead and getting back into competitive markets with this interesting news. It will be interesting to watch over the next couple of months to see new models appearing.

I came across this interesting article recently which was disgusting the iPhone and connecting it to a Bluetooth keyboard. It makes a lot of sense because this is actually available on lots of other smart phones at present but for some reason is unavailable on the iPhone. This of course is a complete shame because the iPhone has so much to offer and would allow lots of people to access e-mail and do what they need to without the need for carrying around a laptop or netbook.
I then came across the iPhone Bluetooth keyboard driver which is an open-source BTstack project, a Bluetooth stack designed for embedded devices where resources are scarce. The driver can work on G(S) and all iPod touch devices with Bluetooth support. But, apparently it is only working on Jailbroken iPhones which is a bit of a pity but maybe it’s something that Apple will support in future updates of their operating system.

The Nokia X6 is now available on pre-order from Expansys. The phone is expected to be available around 12 November and although advertised on their website with “Comes With Music” as far as I remember is that there is no exclusivity deal with Nokia and record companies in Ireland to provide this service. It’s something that Nokia said would be in place within a few months back in March 2009 and but I’m unaware that this is available at present.
The X6 comes with 32GB of internal memory which of course is ideal for playing music tracks it also has a 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen. Other features include a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and Carl Zeiss optics, A-GPS, and a 3.5mm jack.

We know that Sony Ericsson are slowly moving their operating systems over to Android on some of their higher end phones and this is something that many users are definitely looking forward to or so they say. Something else we are definitely looking forward to is the yet to be announced Sony Ericsson Xperia X3 which was leaked back in July.
The funny thing is that this phone is rumored now become available in January 2010 animals roam the same operating system as the Xperia X2 and use windows mobile OS. It’s kind of interesting this because back in May Sony Ericsson announced that they would be putting more focus on two the Android OS moving forward. Back then their vice president of marketing Peter Ang, talk about the development of Android smart phone and said that they would be putting more resources into the new Android smart phone. So it’s quite interesting that we are starting to see them still using the Microsoft platform on some of their upcoming phones.
The Xperia X3 is set to comes with a fast 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and possibly an eight megapixel camera. The phone will also comes with WiFi, GPS and a 3.5mm headphone jack for listening to music.
I’m a big fan of Sony Ericsson mobile phones so it will be nice to see when they finally start moving many of their phones over to the Android operating system.
