The handset comes with 1 GHz single-core Qualcomm MSM8225 chip, 8-megapixels camera, Froyo, HTC Sense UI, and a front-facing camera for video calling.

The phone is the first android phone to come with the gingerbread operating system. There are some added features compared to previous android operating systems but it’s not a major overall but there are some welcome changes that many people are really appreciating.
Improvements in being able to access the apps manager from the home screen, network icons change color to let you know your status, the wifi, signal bar icons are green when connected to Google and when you’re not connected to your gray. There we just small changes but they really do add to the user experience which is important.
The Camera
It actually takes good photos even if you are in difficult lighting situations. You can see some sample photographs taken with the phone here just to give you an idea of the quality.
Video quality is really good in lighting conditions that are bright, and there are however some reports of it not performing as well in dim lighting conditions. But, I suppose this is the same as many phones.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X8 is an android smartphone now available on the Vodafone network as a pay-as-you-go phone for €110, it is of course available in the other options for upgrade you’ll need to check the Vodafone website for pricing.
Some of the features on this phone are quite impressive as Sony Ericsson are bringing an excellent smartphone into the marketplace at a very reasonable price. Without getting too much into the technical detail it comes with HSDPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
It’s quite a compacted phone and measures 99mm x 54mm. The screen (menu) is quite big and easy to navigate around and as it is 3 inches and has a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. It has a micro-USB port for charging and syncing and a standard 3.5mm jack.
With a 3.2 megapixel camera it should be perfect for taken photographs on the move or for uploading to social media network sites if required. It also has a micro-SD memory card slot for expansion.
As this is based on Google’s android operating system there are ample applications already installed to get you going. This includes Google mail, maps, YouTube, Facebook and more. You also have easy access to the android marketplace where many more applications, games, utilities etc. can be downloaded.
Navigation around the menu system is very easy with Sony Ericsson’s custom interface which gives you on-screen shortcuts at the corners of the screen and access to their Timescape software which makes it easy to integrate with social media networks.

It’s coming to that time of year again when we are all thinking of buying gifts for Christmas. It’s funny how it just seems to be getting early every year. But, as we are starting to see TV ads I decided just to have a quick look and see what’s on offer over at Vodafone in phones ranging from around €30 to €50.
Nokia 1800 - this is an entry-level phone that comes with a nice design and typical Nokia menus that are easy to navigate (as you would expect) it has an FM radio and has changeable covers. At €29.99 it’s very reasonably priced if you were to go to a Vodafone store you would be charged €40 so it makes sense to purchase online.
Nokia 2220 Grey – For €40 you can purchase this Nokia mobile which comes with a built in camera. It’s not the best quality camera that you will ever find as it’s only 0.3 megapixels but will do just fine for taking general pictures. The home screen on the phone is fully customizable. With e-mail access, web browsing and an FM radio it’s definitely worth looking at if you are considering purchasing something in the €40 price range.
Nokia 2220 Pink – one for the girls has the same specifications as stated above.
Nokia 2330 – comes with an easy-to-use menu system like a lot of other Nokia mobile phones and also has built-in Bluetooth. Priced at €40 it’s a really good phone for the price you are paying. It has an FM radio, Internet browser and will also have video recording.
Nokia 2720 Fold – we jump up to €49.99 for this Bluetooth enabled phone. It comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera and is a very stylish, shell design. It’s an ideal in chief phone if you want some advanced features like a built-in camera. Many reviewers recommend this as a good starter home and found it very easy to use when texting and making calls. .
Sony Ericsson Spiro Contrast Black – I’m a big fan of Sony Ericsson mobiles and this one comes with a two megapixel camera. It’s an exclusive phone to Vodafone so is not available on any other network. It has built-in social media applications like Facebook and twitter. It also comes with TrackID which helps you to recognize songs when you hear them (if you have not seen this work and it’s a very cool application).
Sony Ericsson Spiro Stealth Black – this has the same specifications as the Apple phone just in a different color. Priced at €49.99 it offers good value for money.
You can find more details over at Vodafone’s website on all these phones.

The keyboard allows you to easily access features like Twitter and Facebook.
Other features include a 2-megapixel camera, 3.5mm headset jack, and FM radio. Overall this is a very inexpensive phone for what you’re getting and is definitely an affordable gift.
