Samsung Galaxy S Android phone

Posted on July 6, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

The Samsung Galaxy S has been on sale in certain markets for a couple of weeks. The phone was launched on June 24 in Korea and has already sold more than 200,000 units. When you compare this to the iPhone 3GS which sold 800,000 units in eight months. I think the numbers speak for themselves and I really think that Samsung are on to a winner given the uptake already.

The phone is already available on Vodafone in the UK and is expected to be pushed out to 110 different countries by the end of the year. It has really nice specifications a 4 inch WVGA Super AMOLED display, 1GHz processor, HD video recording and Android 2.1 this might be also upgraded to 2.2.

Since the phone was first announced we knew that this would definitely be a big seller for Samsung and I’m sure they are very happy with the numbers so far.

Dual SIM phone sales going up

Posted on February 25, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

Samsung have a number of dual sim mobile phones in the marketplace and are one of the few manufacturers who have the foresight for seeing a market for these types of phones. If we are honest they are probably the only manufacturer that are really taking this serious.

It’s been rumored that a number of other major manufacturers are starting to focus on this area. There is a massive market in China and India at present with  Samsung launching the Dous 259 (pictured above) in India.

According to market research it is expected that that dual sim phones will account for 7% of the total worldwide phone sales in 2014 could possibly be over 100 million units. We should start to see more dual sim phones available towards the end of the year if these rumors and speculations are correct.

Samsung today announced the Samsung Beam which is their first official project on. It comes with a pico projector and makes them one of the latest manufacturers to jump on the bandwagon with this latest technology. This is definitely something that many business users will find a use for. Being able to show presentations at meetings for example is there something I could see his purpose as people wanting to have any projector built into their mobile phone.

The phone is based on the Android 2.1 operating system and uses the TouchWiz 3.0 user interface to help navigate around the menu system. It comes with a 3.7 inch AMOLED screen, a 5 megapixel camera, 720p video recording.
