BlackBerry Slider Phone

Posted on March 3, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

First of all most of us is the quality of these photographs is in a particularly good. These are apparently the first photographs to appear at the new Blackberry slider smartphone. But, we are not really sure if these are leaked photographs or completely fake.

With very little information available it’s probably obvious that it would come with a touchscreen display, WiFi, optical trackpad, HSDPA connectivity and run on Blackberry OS 6.0 but that’s really as much as we know.

Hopefully over the next couple of weeks/months we will find out more information or we may have to wait until an official announcement from RIM themselves.

Opera Mini Mobile Web Broswer available in BlackBerry App World

Posted on February 2, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

Opera Mini third party mobile web browser that is available for Blackberry. There is speculation that this will now be available in the Blackberry App World for download sometime this quarter.

Many people use this especially on the Blackberry Storm and Storm2 and find it very useful. It’s very interesting to see the difference between Blackberry and Apple as RIM does not seem to fear competition from other third party applications.

TwitterBerry Now Called OpenBeak

Posted on November 14, 2009 by ColmNo Comments

If you are a user of TwitterBerry, which has been around for a long time. The latest release of the software has now gone through a name change and is now called Openbeak. Most likely reason for this is because Research in Motion are not particularly fond of applications using that word “Berry” in their name on the Blackberry Appworld.

Some of the features of OpenBeak include:

  • Post updates to Twitter, including a character countdown from 140 characters
  • One-click access to view friends timelines, replies, your favorites, your own timeline, and the public timeline
  • Post pictures to Zannel, TwitPic, Twitgoo, or yfrog
  • Take a picture with a one-click embedded camera (BlackBerry® Device Software version 4.6+)
  • Reply to tweets from each timeline view
  • Send and receive direct messages
  • Mark tweets as favorites
  • Notification icon that indicates the number of unread messages, like new emails or missed calls (BlackBerry® Device Software version 4.6+)
  • Cache all avatar images to internal memory, thus saves network access and helps faster loading
  • Search Twitter with a keyword or from a list of currently trending topics
  • Active text recognition of @usernames and #hashtags
  • New Setup wizard
  • Two modes of list views: a “fixed height” view and a “variable height” view

OS 5.0.0.230 For The BlackBerry Tour

Posted on September 22, 2009 by ColmNo Comments

If you have a Blackberry Tour phone you may be related to know that a new operating system update has been released to the web. The OS5.5.5.230 version has started to appear on various websites. As has happened before with Blackberry operating systems this is an unofficial version that has been released as nothing has been announced by Blackberry themselves.

Because this is unsupported it is important that you backup your phone if you are thinking of installing this. The phone itself is a really good solid business platform with lots of options for messaging. Overall it’s a sleek design and  probably the best Blackberry screen but we have seen on one of their phones yet. There is a really good selection of applications and social networking apps available including instant messaging. If you’re lucky enough to live outside Ireland you also get visual voicemail which unfortunately is not available here. But, maybe someday will see it.

One other interesting review and read about the phone is that the calendar and schedule application is quite powerful and very clever. They also noted that this is quite an ugly part and probably not as user-friendly as others are available.

Blackberry Storm 2 Pictures

Posted on May 17, 2009 by Colm2 Comments

It still amazes me how quickly information could find its way onto the Internet and here we have pictures allegedly of the Blackberry Storm 2. It’s believed that internally in the RIM and headquarters this phone is codenamed “Oden.”. We also believe that it will have WiFi in addition to GPS.

As you can guess very little information is available about this phone at the moment that has been a report that the device runs much smoother and faster than the current model, which we all know in the beginning had lots of software issues that would seem to be generally resolves at this stage.

Anyway I guess we will not be hearing more information from Blackberry about this phone for a few months but we will keep you posted when we get more details.

According to some sources that have actually seen 7digital’s application reports are saying that it is very sleek and easy to use. The application is said to have some neat features on the guests over the next couple of weeks and months you’ll start to hear more about this and the rollout plans.

BlackBerry Curve 8520

Posted on May 7, 2009 by ColmNo Comments

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 or as it’s called the “Gemini” has not officially been announced by RIM but some specifications and information about the phone is starting to filter across the Internet.

We believe it will calm wit and optical trackball it’s going to have “rubberised” housing which I guess would protect phone and will come with dedicated media buttons.

To get a better image of the phone you can click on the image on the left hand side should display a larger to give you an idea of what the keyboard and what the phone really looks like.

As I said already some of the information is only starting to filter out what good do believe that it has no 3G and from looking at other photographs there is no flash on the camera. Not too sure if it has Bluetooth or WiFi but I’m sure like other Blackberry devices it should come with these. Sorry for being a little bit sketchy on what specifications the phone will have but I’m sure we will hear more about this over the coming weeks and months.

BlackBerry App World Video Demo

Posted on April 2, 2009 by Colm1 Comment

The video below has been done by Michael over at mobileburn.com, in the video he is giving a demonstration off the Blackberry app world. Interesting thing is that it is his first time to actually look at the application used in his Blackberry device so you are actually getting a first-time look at what happens when you go to the application area for the first time.

An interesting thing is he actually goes in to download the AOL Instant Messenger application, which in each area there are reviews and screenshots so you can get a better understanding of what people think and what application looks like before you download.

There are lots of applications of course which are free to download and some you will need to purchase. In order to purchase you’ll need to have a PayPal account and if this is something you do not have to actually step you through the sign-up process to make sure that you have no issues.

This is a great new direction for Blackberry and I’m sure with the success of the Apple applications store this is only the beginning for the rest of the cell phone manufacturers as they now see how much revenue can be generated from these types of web stores.

AT&T Offering Free Blackberry Bolds

Posted on March 27, 2009 by ColmNo Comments

Do you remember a few months ago and Blackberry are having lots of software issues with the Bold? we had lots of reports of people returning these phones and either getting refunds or switching to a different model.

With so many returns it looks as if AT&T have decided to try and get their money back. They now have refurbished units on their website in the USA and as you can see from the picture they are saying today’s price is Free which is a saving of $550 – not bad deal if you ask me.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a refurbished phone the only issue with these phones was basically software rest of the functionality was absolutely perfect. The only commitment that AT&T require for your free mobile phone is that you sign up for a two-year contract. So if you’re looking for a phone to send e-mail that is a replacement for possibly an older model this is the deal of the week possibly even deal off the month.
