Nokia Mobile Phones

It now looks like that the Nokia N8 Will be the last Nseries phone that they release running on the Symbian operating system. It’s expected that and the newer smart phones will now run on the MeeGo operating system which is a joint venture between Nokia and Intel.
This will not be the end of the Symbian operating system because they will still use it on their Xseries, Eseries and some Cseries handsets.
The Meego operating system is based on Linux and will hopefully improve their market share in the smartphone area which has a lot of competition from the likes of Apple, Blackberry and Android.

Nokia has announced that it has partnered with Skype to allow users to download Skype for Symbian from their Ovi Store. These now gives access to the software to more than 200 million smartphone users.
This software is completely free and without users with Nokia phones to make calls via wi-fi. Software can also be used via mobile data connection, 3G is actually recommend it but it will also work with GPRS and EDGE.
The fact that you will be able to make Skype to Skype call free using your WiFi connectivity on your smartphone is a welcome addition. However, some of the networks in Ireland when they launch new phones remove this type of software automatically because they did not want you making free phone calls using Skype WiFi. The news that you can now install the software using the Ovi store is a welcome addition.
