Motorola to ship more Android phones then HTC in 2010

Posted on February 2, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

2010 looks as if it’s going to be a good year for Motorola because according to Digitimes Research they are going to ship more Android powered mobile phones then HTC this year.

Last year HTC are responsible for shipping around 6 million android phones which made him the number one vendor with about a 65% share of this particular segment of the market. This year it is expected that Motorola will account for 34.7% of the market compared to HTC 31.9%.

Motorola are expected to launch at least 30 Android models in 2010. They are expected to sell any where between 12.5 and 15.6 million android smartphones this year. It’s interesting to see that Motorola pushing ahead and getting back into competitive markets with this interesting news. It will be interesting to watch over the next couple of months to see new models appearing.

Motorola Brute i680

Posted on January 14, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

The Motorola Brute i680 will be available on the Sprint network in the USA soon. One thing I really love about this and something that will probably come in handy here in Ireland with her current weather conditions is that this has been built to military specifications. To explain this little it has been built so it can withstand dust, shock, vibration, low temperature, high temperature, low pressure, solar radiation, salt fog, humidity and blowing rain, which is a normal day’s weather condition here in Ireland at present depending on what part of your in.

It comes with a two megapixel camera with flash. It has a large internal and external display, this features and stereo Bluetooth. It also has GPS and comes with a large battery which gives extended talk time. It’s also expected to come with push to talk with unfortunately is not available here in Ireland but will be a nice feature and the networks ever decide to do this eventually.

The pricing is available at present but if you’re looking for a phone that can’t withstand the elements this is definitely one you may consider.

Motorola Barrage clamshell

Posted on October 2, 2009 by ColmNo Comments

The Motorola Barrage is not your standard mobile phone as it can apparently survive in conditions of high and low temperatures. Believe it or not the phone has been certified to military specs and is ruggedized against shock/vibration, dust, high or low temperatures, and altitude. It’s also waterproof in up to one meter of water for about 30 minutes.

It comes with a two megapixel camera, dedicated external music controls, GPS navigation, a 2.5mm headset jack and a microSD memory card slot.

It’s expected to go on sale in the U. S. on the Verizon network for about $130 with a two-year contract. It also has push to talk available unlimited for an extra five dollars a month.

Motorola MB200 and MB300 Android Phones

Posted on September 11, 2009 by ColmNo Comments

Motorola have a big event lineup to announce their Android phones. But, the funny thing is that some specs and pictures have appeared the day before the announcement. We believe that they will come with Wi-Fi along with both 3G and Bluetooth connectivity.

The MB200 is said to comes with Qualcomm MSM 7200A 528MHz CPU, touchscreen with a 320×480 resolution and a VGA camera.

The MB300 will have a 5 megapixel camera and lots of internal memory. It’s also said that it will have a full QWERTY keyboard.

Although the names of these phones may change slightly and they may possibly call them something else it’s funny how this information appears on the Internet today before a major announcement.

Motorola A3300c Comes With Some Nice Spec

Posted on August 27, 2009 by ColmNo Comments

We see new phones hit the market all the time on the various operating systems that are now available. Apparently Motorola are going to be holding an android event on September 10th where they are expected to unveil the new Motorola Sholes, which is in their new android-based handset.

Software specifications are a little bit scatty but is is rumored to comes with a five megapixel camera, LED flash, 3.2 inch WVGA touch screen, touch sensitive buttons, handwriting recognition, GPS/aGPS and accelerometer.

It’s also expected at this unveiling at the will be showing off the Motorola A3300c phone which is a Windows mobile handset and supposedly it comes with a full touch screen. This will definitely be interesting to see as it is also expected to come with WiFi and 3G enabled.

I particularly like some of the Motorola cell phones as they have made vast improvements over two years compared to some of the models that I’ve previously had. Some of the issues they fly around the menu systems and navigation, which were quite difficult to navigate at times. But, they do have some really nice cellular phones and hopefully we should see lots more improvements as they delve into the touchscreen Smart phone area and also we have to wait in anticipation to see what the android operating system difference will make to their new range of phones that will be available over the next few months.

Motorola confirms it will be releasing Android phones

Posted on April 30, 2009 by ColmNo Comments

I think the dogs on the street know that Motorola have been working on an Android phone for a while now. And today in their quarterly earnings release the head of Moto Mobile devices, Sannjay Jha, confirmed that they will have several different models of android phone available in Q4 this year so just in time for Christmas trading period.

The picture we have here is apparently the devices that they will be releasing these were somehow leaked onto the Internet yesterday and with the announcement today actually confirms what Motorola are doing.

It will be interesting to see what types of specs are on these new phones obviously with the likes of the games market and application stores taken off there must be an opportunity here for Motorola to start selling their own applications online a.k.a. Apple, Nokia and many others that are following. Being able to download games, Ringtones, applications and all types of freeware from these stores must be a key driver for Motorola to try to follow what the other key players are already doing or are in the middle of launching.

I’m sure over the next few months we will be hearing more about these phones and hopefully some testing release dates and pricing.

Motorola V10

Posted on April 23, 2009 by ColmNo Comments

Here’s a new phone that has just been announced by Motorola in South Korea. To be honest not many people knew about this and it’s kind of just come out of left field and surprises everybody. But, we like surprises sometimes keeps everybody in the mobile industry on their toes.

So here we have the Motorola V10 which were not sure if this is an actual successor to the V9 but in terms of looks it does look very similar.

The phone comes with a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth for connecting to your wireless headset or your printer for printing photographs or maybe you use this for communicating and transferring data which are a laptop or PC. It also comes with a music player, which will play most standard music formats. It has a memory expansion slots but will not sure how far you can extend the memory. it comes with a mini USB port that can be used for the data connection or as a charger.

I’ve had a couple of Motorola phones in the past not a big fan of the menu system but if you’re just using a phone to make phone calls and send text messages that also looks nice and you can never go wrong with a Motorola phone. They are not one of my favorite phones in the world but everybody is then of course.

Motorola Evoke QA4 Mobile

Posted on April 2, 2009 by Colm1 Comment

The Motorola Evoke QA4 is a 2.8” full touch-screen smartphone that comes with a 2 megapixel camera, aGPS, Bluetooth, sliding keypad, 256MB internal memory and microSD expansion slot.

When I first seen this a lot sure that it was a Motorola phone because they seem to have had a design shift away from older designs and nail with a touchscreen phone are hopefully starting to attack some of the competition that has taken over their market share – is it just me or do they seem to have iPhone-like widgets ?

This is a new move in direction for Motorola in terms of design, it is a nice sleekly designed Smartphone. I’m sure they will find a mass market for it makes a change from the RAZR-like his allies that they have been pushing in the past couple of years.

So far we have no pricing available or when this will be available to buy.

We have a quick Video review after the Break

Motorola i9 now on the Sprint Network in the US

Posted on March 19, 2009 by Colm1 Comment

The Motorola Stature i9 has now hit the US market and is available on the Sprint network for around $200 depending on contracts and all that sort of stuff. I particularly like the look of the i9 as it comes with a 3.1 megapixel camera, which incorporates an 8x zoom autofocus camera. The phone also comes with bluetooth, GPS, microSD and speakerphone. It also has a few more features and applications like games, wallpaper and ringtones.

I have a few friends that are big fans of Motorola I’m not a big fan of the menus on their phones but maybe I’ve just gotten used to Nokia and Sony Ericsson over the years but they find sending text messages to be realy easy. On a bit more off the technical side the i9 comes in at 4.7 ounces and is 4.1? x 2.1? x .59? in size.

Reading some of the fluffy marketing information we are told that the phone is “slim, stylish and fashionable” which in fairness it looks from the many photographs that I have seen.  As this is a flip phone it comes with a colorful external display so you can see you as a ringing without having to open a I kind of like this idea and have had it on the phones in the past and something that is really handy with these type of phones.  Battery life is said to last about three hours, hopefully it’s something we will see hitting the European market in the not too distant future.

Motorola VE465 set to launched on the Alltel Network

Posted on March 16, 2009 by ColmNo Comments

The Motorola VE465 is one off their new semi-rugged entry-level phones. If I remember correctly we look at this a few months ago when some leaked images appeared on the web. The phone has now appeared on Alltel’s website, so it looks as if it is going to be available pretty soon in the USA but no word yet on if this will be available in Europe.

The phone comes with a 1.9 inch TFT internal display with 176 x 220 pixels and 65k colors, Bluetooth, Music player, 1.3MP camera, MicroSD card support. As Alltel are now owned by Verizon I guess we may also see the phone appearing on their wireless service in the near future.
