Apparently Apple are holding a press conference tomorrow which will be focused on some of the issues they are having with the iPhone 4 antenna. We know they are releasing a new operating system for the phone iOS 4.1 but this will not fix any issues that customers are presently having it in the antenna. It’ll be interesting to see if they offer a free ticket to the case which can help solve the problem or will they issue a recall.

Apple are very keen to push there bumper case as a good way to help protect your phone but also to help solve issues with the antenna.

Unfortunately Apple are also charging for this bumper case I’m not sure what price it will cost here in Ireland but at the moment it’s selling for around $30 in the US.

Anyway, look at the video below which will show you just how good the bumper case actually is when you drop your iPhone 4.

It seems as if this new iPhone 4 has some issues with the integrated antenna and these problems maybe cause by their stainless steel band around the outside of the handset.

The problem seems to be that this stainless steel band is made from two separate pieces with each of these containing antennas. As you can see from the photograph below they meet at the bottom left corner of the iPhone and this is where the problems begin.

Have a look at the videos and you’ll see when you hold the phone the signal starts to drop. This problem is not just limited to AT&T as demonstrated in the video but has also been reported to be an issue on O2 in the UK and T-Mobile in Germany.

I was wondering if I could find out any information as to when the iPhone 4 will be coming to Ireland. Apparently in some other countries you can place pre orders as of today if you happen to live in the US, UK, France or Germany.

A quick trip to the Vodafone and O2 website and they do not even have an area for phones that are coming soon to help give customers any indication to when this will arrive or to even give an overview of the phone’s capabilities and specifications. I really think this is something that the Irish networks should consider doing because when you look at their websites in the UK on the front page you can register your interest to receive information.

It also seems that UK customers can also pre-order an unlocked version from the Apple store. It’s kind of expensive at around £500 for just 16GB version and £600 for just 32 GB version. At the time of writing this it was impossible to confirm whether this will be available in Ireland because the Apple store is unfortunately down at presence.
