Apple’s Press Conference Tomorrow

Posted on July 15, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

Apparently Apple are holding a press conference tomorrow which will be focused on some of the issues they are having with the iPhone 4 antenna. We know they are releasing a new operating system for the phone iOS 4.1 but this will not fix any issues that customers are presently having it in the antenna. It’ll be interesting to see if they offer a free ticket to the case which can help solve the problem or will they issue a recall.

Nice iPhone Football App

Posted on July 6, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

Here’s something I just came across a new game which is expected to be released very soon called “Upsies”. I’m sure you’re familiar with Upsies and the use of live video footage using the camera and graphics on the iPhone is the first time I’ve seen an application on the iPhone using these capabilities. The application will only work on an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4.

If you have time to take a quick look at the video below.

iPhone 4 has Reception Issue

Posted on June 25, 2010 by Colm2 Comments

It seems as if this new iPhone 4 has some issues with the integrated antenna and these problems maybe cause by their stainless steel band around the outside of the handset.

The problem seems to be that this stainless steel band is made from two separate pieces with each of these containing antennas. As you can see from the photograph below they meet at the bottom left corner of the iPhone and this is where the problems begin.

Have a look at the videos and you’ll see when you hold the phone the signal starts to drop. This problem is not just limited to AT&T as demonstrated in the video but has also been reported to be an issue on O2 in the UK and T-Mobile in Germany.

Apple iPhone 4 in Ireland

Posted on June 15, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

I was wondering if I could find out any information as to when the iPhone 4 will be coming to Ireland. Apparently in some other countries you can place pre orders as of today if you happen to live in the US, UK, France or Germany.

A quick trip to the Vodafone and O2 website and they do not even have an area for phones that are coming soon to help give customers any indication to when this will arrive or to even give an overview of the phone’s capabilities and specifications. I really think this is something that the Irish networks should consider doing because when you look at their websites in the UK on the front page you can register your interest to receive information.

It also seems that UK customers can also pre-order an unlocked version from the Apple store. It’s kind of expensive at around £500 for just 16GB version and £600 for just 32 GB version. At the time of writing this it was impossible to confirm whether this will be available in Ireland because the Apple store is unfortunately down at presence.

Apple iPhone 4G concept

Posted on March 4, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

It’s expected that Apple will launch a new iPhone this year and with that in mind we are starting to see concept idea’s appearing on the web.

At present no one really knows what the 4th generation iPhone will actually look like and absolutely no idea of specifications. It’ll be nice to think it would have at least a five megapixel camera, maybe a little bit extra internal memory and the option to add a MicroSD card.

I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens in a few months time as it’s possible that Apple will announce this in June or July this year.

Apple sues HTC for Patent Infringement

Posted on March 3, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

We see this all times with technology companies being sued and I know Apple have had many people suing them over the past number of years since the iPhone was released claiming patent infringements.

Apple announced yesterday that they are suing HTC over patent infringements. Apple filed the suit with the ITC (the U.S. International Trade Commission) and in U.S. District Court in Delaware.

“We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it. We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours,” declared Apple CEO Steve Jobs.

iPhone Pricing Announced by Vodafone

Posted on March 3, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

So it looks like the iPhone 3GS will now be available on Vodafone on March 25th. If you’re looking to purchase a prepaid model it’ll cost you €519 for the 16GB version and €609 for the 32GB version.

When it comes to pay monthly for a variety of plans that you can check out here. It is nice to finally see some competitors selling iPhone but to be honest I don’t see much of a difference between the various price plans from both networks.

It would be interesting when it is launched to see how good sales go for them in the present climate.

iPhone Game Angry Birds

Posted on March 1, 2010 by ColmNo Comments

Here’s a really good video review of the Angry Birds which is now on the iPhone. The game by Clickgamer and the evil green pigs have stolen some eggs from the birds and your job is to get them back using kamikaze birds in a slingshot to try and save the eggs.

This is a game that is extremely difficult and gets more difficult the longer you play. The graphics are really sharp and alert in the background perfectly. Overall there are many positive reviews out there on this and if you have time check out the video below is give you a really good idea as to what to expect.
