Symbian OS Goes Open Source

Yesterday we talked about interesting news that the Symbian operating system is going to become open-source. Well, as it turned out to Symbian foundation did actually announce that this is going to happen which now means that any organization can use and modify the code “for any purpose”.

“This is the largest open source migration effort ever,” Lee Williams of the Symbian Foundation told BBC News. According to him, they already executed the ideas 12-18 months before Android and before the launch of the original iPhone.
