Nokia Offers Dealers Commission to Sell Ovi Store Access

Nokia has started to offer some of its credited dealers commission for any Ovi store application that they sell. This is basically a move to help boost the uptake for Nokia’s online portal website.

By stores offering this service when you purchase a handset Nokia are obviously hoping to increase sales by monetizing the downloadable content and obviously offer the dealers a commission for doing so.

The service is on trial at present in the UK in 15 accredited Nokia retail outlets. It’s expected in the next couple of weeks the dealers involved in the trial will give feedback.

This is obviously a service that should go well given that Nokia expects to have fielded million users using this service is the end of 2011 this is a great way to get it to the mass market quickly using retail outlets. So far there has been no more information released on the commission basis just a provisional commission of £2 per service. I’m sure the agents will be looking for some sort of ongoing commission if a consumer for signs of and then purchases other downloadable games or applications at a later stage this would make it more commercially viable for them I guess.
