Nokia 1100 Scandal

It is a really interesting news story that is just emerging. If you happen to be the owner of an old Nokia 1100 phone that was made in a factory in Bochum Germany around 2002 then this could be very valuable. It seems that Russian, Moroccan and Romanian crime gangs are offering as much as $32,000 for a fully functional Nokia 1100.

Now you may be asking yourself why would a crime gang won’t to pay so much money for one of these phones. Well, apparently when the 1100 mostly produced there was a bug in the firmware that will allow you to reprogram it to someone else’s phone number. Just without this works on not really sure but obviously these guys know the value of having somebody else’s cell phone. So what do crime gangs expect to do? We all know in certain countries that cell phone banking is big business and having access to such a hack would allow the gangsters to intercept another person’s banking ID codes.

So for no criminal tanks have come forward to confirm this and according to Nokia officials are not aware of any reason why someone would be bothered paying such an amazing price for a phone that sold for a round €100.

To Nokia 1100 was a simple phone but not much software installed. Back in 2002 it was mainly just used for making phone calls and sending text messages I’m sure we will have somebody coming back that has done some research and studies to let us know if this hack actually works. But I’m really not sure if they will go public.
