LG have today announced a new smartphone calls the LG GT810H. it comes with a 3″ touchscreen display, HSDPA data, Wi-Fi and 3 megapixel camera and is said to be running Windows mobile operating system.
It’s nice to see LG with a smart phone running Windows mobile and we are wondering what network service providers will be taking this phone. We know now that it is heading to Central and South America. But no mentions of it for North America or hitting the networks there like Verizon or T-Mobile.
It’s interesting what LG are doing this you are looking at the phones they have announced a think initially late last year they announced that they would have 125 new devices launched in 2009. Keeping track of these for us here has been a bit of a nightmare but I don’t think they have released anything like that number so far maybe it’s the current economic climate and maybe they are still on track for doing this we will know later on in the year when the market really picks from September onwards.

The Sony Ericsson themes creator has been given and update, which will help people create themes much easier. The idea behind making it easier is to allow anybody create a special theme for his or her phone. In the new updated version of the software the process of doing this has been simplified into a tree step workflow.
Without me getting too complicated because to be honest this isn’t the software is now split into three editing modes Wizard, Advanced and XML Editor. It also has a new interface so everything is easy to understand.
We all want to personalize our mobile phones and being able to design logos for free and wallpaper for free is an ideal way of doing this. A friend of mine recently started using the software and is given away free themes as gifts to people for their phones. He has actually even developed some of this to help promote his business by given away free wallpaper in company designs- great idea.
Anyway if you’re looking to personalize your mobile phone and it happens to be a Sony Ericsson maybe this is something you could use all you need to do is go to the Sony Ericsson website and you can download the updated version.
Unfortunately the theme creator will not work with ringtones. But, if you are looking to create ring tones for your mobile phone there are plenty of third party applications available to do this.

The Nokia 5800 Comes With Music is being rolled out in many markets at the moment and has just started to ship in Brazil. The phone comes with a 3.2? widescreen touch screen, and we believe that it has already sold over 3 million units since its initial launch in November.
The dimensions of the phone are 4.37 x 2.04 x 0.61 in. The screen resolution of 640×360 pixels, which gives 16:9 aspect ratio this is great for watching widescreen movies and videos. If you like music and like listening to tunes to speakers on the 5800 have been reported by some users to be probably the best that they have heard on a phone.
Phone also comes with a 3 megapixel camera which unfortunately is not protected by a lens cover so may be prone to scratching but this has neither been confirmed or denied by anybody that I know that it has purchased one. It has a dual LED flash and also comes with some applications on the phone to help you improve your photographs and managed them.
Terms of other applications it comes with a standard Symbian apps like phonebook, calendar, mobile games, alarm clock and the usual stuff we come to expect on a Nokia mobile.
According to Nokia for customers in Brazil that choose this “Comes With Music” phone “By purchasing the device, customer is immediately entitled to enable the Comes With Music service and start exploring and downloading more than three million tracks of international and Brazilian artists, unlimitedly, for one year, thanks to agreements signed with the four of the world’s largest labels and hundreds of independent labels.”

I think the dogs on the street know that Motorola have been working on an Android phone for a while now. And today in their quarterly earnings release the head of Moto Mobile devices, Sannjay Jha, confirmed that they will have several different models of android phone available in Q4 this year so just in time for Christmas trading period.
The picture we have here is apparently the devices that they will be releasing these were somehow leaked onto the Internet yesterday and with the announcement today actually confirms what Motorola are doing.
It will be interesting to see what types of specs are on these new phones obviously with the likes of the games market and application stores taken off there must be an opportunity here for Motorola to start selling their own applications online a.k.a. Apple, Nokia and many others that are following. Being able to download games, Ringtones, applications and all types of freeware from these stores must be a key driver for Motorola to try to follow what the other key players are already doing or are in the middle of launching.
I’m sure over the next few months we will be hearing more about these phones and hopefully some testing release dates and pricing.

It looks like Samsung will be using Nokia’s Navteq maps on some of their up and coming handsets in the next year.
Navteq was acquired by Nokia in 2008 for $8.1 billion and is used by many big companies like Garmin, BMW and Yahoo.
We believe that the first phone that Samsung will be distributing with Nokia’s Navteq maps will be the Omnia HD i8910. The phone is based on the Symbian operating system and comes with Wi Fi, Bluetooth v2.0, DNSe 2.0 and 3.5 mm audio jack.
The phone also has an 8 megapixel camera with face, smile and blink detection. It comes with a accelerometer sensor which we know is great for playing games. But, will also be ideal for looking at maps to help guide you.

The Sony Ericsson F305 is not a new phone been around a while but it is now available in two new colors Raspberry Red and Tectonic Grey. I’ve actually tested qualities in the past and I quite liked it to where some reports of software issues crashing all the time and losing information but I think at this stage these issues have been resolved.
The phone itself comes with a 2-megapixel camera, 176×220 pixels TFT screen, stereospeakers and special gaming keys on the front, which is where the fun begins. Depending on where you purchase an F305 zone service providers are also bundling up to 50 games.
With the new covers Sony Ericsson are also given some special content with the phone like pictures, ringtones, themes and preloaded games. So far no pricing is available but we expect this to be available on a prepaid offer and on contract from various network service providers. We know that in the Ireland the F305 sells on the O2 network and it may not be the best mobile phone in the world for games but it shows is the direction that is being taken by the likes of Sony Ericsson and as the mobile phone games market takes off we should expect more.

Below we have a hit list of the top 10 mobile phone markets in Asia. As you can see from the list some of these numbers are staggering when you compare this to the size of Ireland.
- China – 615.7m
- India – 346.8m
- Indonesia – 140.2m
- Japan – 105.8m
- Pakistan – 89.9m
- The Philippines – 68.1m
- Vietnam – 67.2m
- Thailand – 61.9m
- South Korea – 45.6m
- Bangladesh – 45.2m
Mobile phones are big business and I’m sure some of the big network service providers like Vodafone, Verizon wireless, T-Mobile etc. all have big sharers in some of the network providers in these countries. Just think of the amount of phones that the likes of Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung and Motorola to name but a few must be selling in these countries must be phenomenal.

Believe it or not the Nokia E75 is the first phone they have produced that comes with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. They already have some phones with full-size keyboards of course but non-that actually slide out.
The phone itself comes with lots of nice features like 3.2-megapixel camera with an LED flash, Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi, GPS. Its external memory he can be upgraded using microSD memory but it actually comes with a 4 GB card in the box so this may be sufficient for many people. This is essentially a business phone so naturally it comes with lots of business applications like spreadsheets and presentations. E-mail of course is a big feature and you are able to connect to all the standard e-mail platforms like POP and IMAP. It comes with a decent web browser which will also allow you access Internet e-mail if this is what’s required. It also comes with many standard applications like phonebook for storing all your phone records and contacts in the usual round of applications that Nokia normally supply on Symbian phones.
So far no pricing is available for the phone and I’m sure many network service providers will be giving great offers on this whether it is on a pay as you go prepaid phone or on a contract. I’m sure plenty of information for this will be available as soon as this begins to the mass market.

We now believe that the Nokia N97 will be available on Vodafone in the UK sometime July. The much talked about smartphone comes with some nice features that will hopefully benefit users once they get their hands on the phone.
As I’m sure you’ll be aware it’s a touchscreen phone that offers a resolution off 640 by 360 pixels. This will hopefully make the likes of web browsing a much nicer experience in using the N95, which can be a little bit painful to try to use. One of the other nice features is the slide out keyboard, which is a full QWERTY keyboard, which will hopefully make it much easier for sending text messages and writing e-mails.
This is a multi-media and multi-function phone from Nokia that comes with standard features like WiFi and Bluetooth for connectivity purposes. We have reviewed this phone before but it’s just good to know that that it will hit in the UK in July and more than likely it may hit Irish stores before the December 2009.

It looks like Nokia are planning on cutting 360 jobs in their Internet services division. This is all part of the plan as they continue to put more focus on their Ovi Store. We know that Nokia plan on launching the store in direct competition with the Apple Applications Store. Sure do have seen the financial numbers that Apple are churning out and this is the reason why they are putting more focus on this area. Of course this is unfortunate for the people who have just lost their jobs.
We know in a few months ago that Motorola announced that they will also be cutting jobs so this is a global phenomenon as the global recession really starts to affect the mobile phone manufacturers. Sony Ericsson of course has announced Job puts over the past few months also.
It’s quite difficult to know when the likes of Nokia and Motorola will turn around sales so that we can hope to see an end to these types of announcements and job cuts. We know back in January that Motorola’s sales were down about 38% in Q4 the previous year so hopefully they have been able to turn this around.

It’s sad to say that I actually know a couple of Trekkies. Star Trek is not something that I’m particularly crazy about us in some of the movies, TV series but would not go my way to watch one.
So the news today for Star Trek Fans is that Nokia are releasing a 5800 Star Trek Edition, which is expected to be launched next week. This is definitely of those marketing ploys to try get extra cash out of people to release of the new movie. The phone will comes with four custom wallpapers, eight movie-related ringtones and a Phaser application which showed keep all fans happy from a five years old to 85 years old.
We know that the new phone is expected to hit the UK market on May 1st and will come in Blue, Red or Black/Silver. The phone comes with a TFT resistive touchscreen, 3-mega-pixel camera with autofocus, Carl Zeiss optics and LED flash. It also comes with Bluetooth which can be ideal for sharing your photographs that if you have taken with the camera.
