Smartphone Platforms Emerge Unscathed
we looked at the Pwn2Own contest the other day and how the big 5 smartphone companies where offering $10,000 if somebody could crack their operating system. Well it seems that nobody got to claim the $10,000 that was on offer, thats kind of a little bit reassuring for all those cell phone users.
One of the interesting things that came out of the event is that bugs are still prevalent in some of the operating system is like Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile, iPhone and Blackberry. But according to the organizers some of these vulnerabilities are harder to exploit on some devices due to carrier variations.
Apparently one contestant is able to exploit the iPhone, but wasn’t willing to a deal as he wanted more then the $10,000 that was up for grabs. As we said the other day that on the black market some of these exploits could be worth up to $100,000 so I kind of understand where this guy is coming from.
