Virgin Mobile Promises Touchscreen Mobiles
Virgin Mobile’s CEO Dan Schulman Speaking at the Dow Jones Wireless Innovations conference said as part of their move to smart phones that they plan to introduce touchscreen phones into their range.
It is a fairly interesting point because Virgin mobile really focus on low end phones for making calls and sending text messages. Their real focus is on younger people in the middle and low income bracket and moving into this smart phone cell phone market will be a bit of a shift in their focus.
As an MVNO their focus and core business is on prepaid market as he said already targeting younger people and students. According to reports in the economic downturn has benefited Virgin and that’s mainly because consumers do not want to sign any long-term contracts. Last year they also acquired Helio and since then has been offering more multimedia type phones and messaging centric handsets.
I particularly like versions mobile web section on the website where they cover what services they offer which is everything from Facebook, Bebo, Ringtones, Sports Updates which is the forefront of what most people seem to be looking for nowadays on a cell phone.
