So the much talked about – Which network will the iPhone be on question has finally been answered. O2 have finally been announced, they have also also partnered with Carphone Warehouse for over 1300 locations that will be selling the iPhone. Cloud will be the Wi-Fi provider and it will be free to iPhone users, likely part of the service agreement.
From the O2 website“All you have to do is enter into an 18 month Pay Monthly contract with O2 on one of our exclusive iPhone tariffs. These start at just £35 a month.” They also have a full list of pricing which will give you an idea what it will be when it’s finally launched in Ireland.
As we are normally behind the UK in mobile technology don’t expect to see the iphone in Ireland until early next year (nice if it’s before Christmas but don’t really see it happening)

The new 3G iPhone is expected to include features like global positioning for navigation services.
Sources say Apple has tapped Broadcom’s Global Locate unit to supply chips for the phone. But, Apple declined to comment — they never talk about future products

Note quite in Ireland yet but apparently McDonald’s has teamed up with SK Telecom Korea to bring customers a new way to order food, via their mobile phone.
They use RFID technology to allow customers to place an order using a “Touch Order” menu, you then get an SMS to let you know your order is ready to be picked up.
You don’t even have to stand in line to pickup your food, thats all taken care of via your mobile. I wonder if McDonald’s are in talks with any of the networks in Ireland to do the same? Let’s hope not

A Nokia branded iPhone, really ! well Anssi Vanjoki — Nokia’s Executive VP & General Manager of Multimedia — said, “If there is something good in the world then we copy with pride.” Well, ok then. See what we mean after the break.
The idea was presented during Nokia’s GoPlay event as a quick glimpse of what to expect from Nokia next year.

So you get your hands on an iPhone and this happens, maybe try a software hack next time or wait until 2008 to get your hands on one if you live in Ireland.
