iPhone owner sues AT&T, Apple and Steve Jobs

Posted on September 30, 2007 by ColmNo Comments

iphonedrop.jpgWhat’s the point is just suing Apple – Why not sue everybody involved, that’s what Dongmei Li has decided to do.

Li is a little pissed off with them after the price drop on September 5th and is accusing them of “price discrimination, underselling, discrimination in rebates, deceptive actions and other wrongdoings.

And wait for it, she’s suing for “compensatory damages in the amount of $1 million”

Apple release iPhone 1.1.1 update

Posted on September 28, 2007 by Colm1 Comment

iPhone_firmware_update.jpgUpdate on the new firmware for the iPhone, I know what your saying it’s not available in Ireland (yet) but I have seen some so this is for the 10 people in Ireland that just might happen to have one.

The new firmware Version 1.1.1 which is 152MB to download might just re-lock your phone, depending on how hacked your iPhone is, you might end up with a mobile that you can’t use.

Functionality-wise, 1.1.1 brings a number of tweaks and changes:

* iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store
* Louder speakerphone and receiver volume
* Home Button double-click shortcut to phone favorites or music controls
* Space bar double-tap shortcut to intelligently insert period and space
* Mail attachments are viewable in portrait and landscape
* Stocks and cities in Stocks and Weather can be re-ordered
* Apple Bluetooth Headset battery status in the Status Bar
* Support for TV Out
* Preference to turn off EDGE/GPRS when roaming internationally
* New Passcode lock time intervals
* Adjustable alert volume

If you have installed Jailbreak to install third-party apps and custom ringtones, be aware that installing the update will block access to any of that content.

iPhone unlockTeam hits back at Apple’s threat

Posted on September 27, 2007 by ColmNo Comments

iphone_unlocked.jpgThe development team that hacked the iPhone have issued a statement in responce to Apple’s recent statement on unlocked iPhones.

They have promised that within the next couple of weeks they will have a tool that will restore your unlocked iPhone to it’s factory settings, so no need to worry about the upcomming update from Apple.

Here’s what they had to say

Based on download numbers, the iPhone Dev Team believes that, worldwide, several hundred thousand people have unlocked their iPhones. That number continues growing every day. The removal of the lock, a bug, was a major step forward in the iPhone development. It made the iPhone free and useful to anyone, not only to those in certain countries.

Apple now announces that the next firmware update, expected later this week, will possibly break the handset of all of us free users in the World. It speaks of “damage” done to the firmware and “unauthorized access” to our own property, The removal of those firmware problems, which were built in in favor for AT&T, does not cause “damage” as they want to make us believe.

We will provide you with a tool in the next week which will be able to recover your nck counter and seczones and even enables you to restore your phone to a Factory-like state.

In the meantime we advise you not to update your free iPhone with the upcoming firmware. Wait for the next version to be fixed to work properly with your carrier and not break your phone.

Steve Wozniak blasts Steve Jobs over iPhone price cuts

Posted on September 25, 2007 by ColmNo Comments

steve_wozniak.jpgSteve Wozniak was the co-founded of Apple when they started, I watched a program about him a few months ago. The guy has so much money but has decided to teach instead of just sitting by the pool drinking cocktails – fairplay

Anyway I’m getting away from the story, Wozniak has had a pop at Steve Jobs about the way the iPhone dropped in price so soon after launch, and how refunds were handled.

“Nobody expects a product to drop that much in price in such a short time,” he said, adding that, while early adopters expected to pay more for getting a product early, the $200 drop was “too soon, too harsh”.

“Why don’t you just take my receipt and give me the money back? And of course it always comes back to Apple Store credit. So instead of getting $100 back you are getting $50 back sort of. It is very optimal to the company. I feel badly about the situation for everyone. I don’t think Apple should have even done it. Maybe a very much more gradual price reduction, $50 at first or find ways to bundle it into a savings on your account,” he said.

I kind of agree with ya Steve, I’m sure you read this blog and will answer me :-)

Mobile Phone Projector

Posted on September 23, 2007 by ColmNo Comments

ticellproject.jpgThis is something that has been on the cards for a long time, screens on mobile can really only go so big so the next step was going to be a built-in projector.

Texas Instruments appears to be getting closer to a projector that’ll cram inside a mobile phone with enough brightness and clarity to make it usable.

Other manufactures are working on this but who’ll be the first to mass market such a devise I wonder.

Expensive mobile phone

Posted on September 22, 2007 by ColmNo Comments

This is the worlds most expensive phone, the mobile made by the Swiss Goldvish and costs 1 million dollars. As you can see it’s covered by diamonds and crocodile leather.

It features a 2 mega pixel camera, microSD support and bluetooth, for that price I would want it to do a hell of a lot more. I really sometimes wonder who would buy such a phone.
