Nokia offers free mapping software for mobile devices

nokia-n95-thumb.jpgThe Nokia smart2go mapping and navigation platform will be made available free-of-charge for anyone with a compatible mobile, nice one Nokia. The software will be pre-installed on all future N-series phones under the name “Nokia Maps”

Nokia plan to also have the software available for all smartphones running Windows Mobile OS and at some later stage have it available for all Major Mobile operating systems.

You can see where Nokia are coming from as I’m sure they see threat, of services like Google Maps being used on mobile devices, and obviously wants a piece of the action.

In a smart move they’ll also allow Brand name companies to place their icons on these digital maps.
