Ryanair may allow you to make mobile calls

If you work for Ryanair you cant charge your mobile at work. But, now Ryanair are poised to begin installing kit on its aircraft that will allow passengers to make mobile phone calls.

They are close to a deal with an unnamed telecoms company to install the necessary kit to enable both voice calls and SMS texts while in flight but will be prohibited during take-off and landing.

Tapping into the mobile market is just one new revenue source that the airline is considering. Internet gaming and gambling may also be added to the list of in-flight attractions.

One of the issue’s they’ll have to overcome is the potential for disturbance within the passenger cabin and the increased levels of agitation from passengers if all they hear is mobile phones ringing.
